Science Moving Foward

Science Moving Foward will be having it's inaugural meetings on January 21 and 22 from 12-1 pm in room 2215 ECE.

Science Moving forward is a group whose mission is to promote the success of both women and men in science and continue to increase the participation of underrepresented minorities in science fields and careers.  The group consists of faculty, research associates, graduate and undergraduate students, and both men and women.

Our discussion includes topics such as the issues of gender in science and the role scientists play as public advisors and advocates. We also have discussions and workshops to teach skills such as the use of technology in science communication, time management, and tips for success in job applications.  Everyone is welcome so please pass the word! There will be a two identical meetings each month to allow more people to attend.

There will also be a Science Book Club meeting each month where we will read and discuss a different book relating to the topics and conversations of Science Moving Forward. The book for the month of February will be Silent Spring by Rachel Carson
